Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, and his wife were jailed in a fake corruption case.

Pakistan’s Islamabad – Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, was given a 14-year prison term on Friday, while Bushra Bibi, his wife, received a seven-year sentence for corruption and abuse of power regarding Khan’s Al-Qadir University Project Trust.

Additionally, Bibi was punished half of Khan’s penalties of one million Pakistani rupees ($3,500).

In December of last year, an accountability court based at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where Khan has been detained since August 2023, reserved its decision and postponed the announcement three times. Bibi was taken into custody on the court grounds.

Khan, who had previously said the delays were an attempt to “pressurize” him, did not show up in court on January 13 when the judgment was postponed for a third time.

The former prime minister has now been found guilty in four significant cases.

Three previous convictions, which were reversed or suspended, were linked to selling official gifts, disclosing state secrets, and getting married illegally. These verdicts were revealed in January of last year. Khan calls this scenario a political witch hunt, yet he is still in jail and has hundreds of cases against him.
